About ONGC

ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation) is India's largest crude oil and natural gas company and a Maharatna PSU. It recruits Graduate Engineer Trainees and Executive Trainees through GATE scores and a dedicated exam. How ONGC Salary is Structured

ONGC GETs start at Rs. 60,000 basic per month in the Rs. 60,000-1,80,000 scale. IDA is 55.7 percent of basic from July 2026, adding about Rs. 33,400 a month. HRA is 30, 20 or 10 percent of basic depending on city class, or company quarters are provided instead. Cafeteria perks of about 35 percent of basic are paid monthly, and Performance Related Pay is paid once a year. Field allowance of Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 20,000 a month is paid on top at offshore and remote postings.

What Deductions Will You See?

Provident fund at 12 percent of basic plus IDA is about Rs. 11,200 a month. Professional tax is around Rs. 200 depending on state. Income tax under the new regime is about Rs. 9,300 a month at a metro posting, and lower with company quarters. CPSE executives contribute to provident fund on basic plus DA, not NPS on basic alone.

Increments and Career Progression

Dearness Allowance (DA) Explained

ONGC follows the 2017 IDA pay scale. IDA is 55.7 percent of basic from 1 July 2026, set quarterly by the Department of Public Enterprises and the same for every CPSE on this scale. At Rs. 60,000 basic it adds about Rs. 33,400 a month. The next revision is due from 1 October 2026.
