About RRB NTPC

RRB NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories) is the Railway Recruitment Boards' exam for non-technical posts across Indian Railways. Graduate posts include Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor and senior clerical roles. Undergraduate (Class 12) posts include Commercial cum Ticket Clerk and Junior Clerk cum Typist. It attracts more applicants than almost any other government exam in India.

How RRB NTPC Salary is Structured

Pay depends on the post. Graduate posts are at Levels 5 and 6 (basic Rs. 29,200 and Rs. 35,400), while undergraduate posts are at Levels 2 and 3 (basic Rs. 19,900 and Rs. 21,700). DA, HRA and transport allowance are added on top. Station Masters and Goods Train Managers also get duty-related allowances such as night duty allowance, which are not included here.

What Deductions Will You See?

NPS at 10% of basic plus DA is the main deduction. Income tax is nil for all NTPC entry posts under the new regime. Railway quarters, where allotted, replace HRA with a small licence fee.

Annual increment is 3% of basic. Station Masters can be promoted to Deputy Station Superintendent and Station Superintendent. Clerks move up to senior clerk and office superintendent grades through seniority and departmental exams.
