About KVS Teacher
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan runs over 1,200 central schools across India and abroad, mainly for children of central government employees. KVS teachers are central government employees on the 7th Pay Commission matrix, which makes KVS one of the best-paid school teaching jobs in India. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) follows the same pay levels for PRT, TGT and PGT.
How KVS Teacher Salary is Structured
KVS has three main teaching grades. PRT starts at Level 6 (Rs. 35,400), TGT at Level 7 (Rs. 44,900) and PGT at Level 8 (Rs. 47,600). DA, HRA and transport allowance are added on top. Teachers posted in hard areas or the North East can get special duty allowance, which is not included here.
What Deductions Will You See?
The main deduction is NPS at 10% of basic plus DA. No income tax applies at any entry grade under the new regime, because taxable income stays under the Rs. 12 lakh rebate limit even for a PGT in an X class city.
